Celebrating 115th Birth Anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam S. Bhagat Singh
No sacrifice is greater than the sacrifice done for one's country.
Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh is the synonym of the very word "sacrifice". Celebrating this great legend's 115th Birth Anniversary, the Department of Social Sciences of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala organized youth-inspiring activities like Bicycle Rally, Symposium and Nukkad Natak on 28th September 2022. The day was initiated by arranging a Bicycle Rally and Run-for-Freedom which was flagged off by Shri Harwinder Singh, grandson of great freedom fighter, S. Pritam Singh, who was awarded Tamr Patra for his undaunted services rendered for his Mother Land. Shri Tilak Raj Aggarwal, President, College Managing Committee, and Principal, Dr. Archna Garg welcomed Shri Harwinder Singh and his wife by presenting them a bouquet as a token of gratitude. Seema Rani, Head, Department of History, welcomed the main guests and highlighted the significance of the short yet grand life of Bhagat Singh. Students and staff from Teaching and Non-teaching staff thereafter participated in the Bicycle Rally and Run-for-Freedom which covered the city area from Shalimar Gardens to the Sainik School, Kapurthala and the way back to the college. Students and teachers also paid their floral tributes to the statue of Bhagat Singh at Bhagat Singh Chowk.
To mark the unflinching contributions made by Bhagat Singh, a Symposium-cum- Extension Lecture on the Life and Philosophy of Bhagat Singh was arranged. Prof. Jaswant Singh ( Retd. HOD) Department of History, NJSA Govt. College, Kapurthala, the Resource person of this special lecture enlightened the students about the rich and exemplary life of Bhagat Singh who sacrificed his precious life for the sake of his country and was sentenced to death by execution at the ripe age of 23 along with his associates Rajguru and Sukhdev.
A Nukkad Natak on the Ideology of Bhagat Singh was also organised on the college campus for the students and before the general public at Mall Road, Kapurthala. All students and teachers remained deeply involved in all soul-inspiring activities throughout the day. College Principal, Dr. Archna Garg encouraged students and staff to follow the righteous path shown by great Bhagat Singh and also complimented the teachers of Department of Social Sciences on arranging a rich plethora of activities.
