Inter-Class Kho-Kho Competition to commemorate 'National Sports Day'
The Department of Physical Education and NSS Units of the College and Collegiate School organized an Inter-Class Kho-Kho Competition to commemorate 'National Sports Day'. Officiating Principal Dr. Kulwinder Kaur highlighted that the day honours Major Dhyan Chand and emphasized the role of sports in fostering physical fitness, self-confidence, leadership and positive personality development. Teams competed enthusiastically; Team A (Mary Kom) won with 33 points while Team B (P. V. Sindhu) finished runner-up with 29 points. Winners received medals. The event was coordinated by Miss Kamaljeet Kaur and attended by Dr. Ritu Gupta, Dr. Anupam Sabharwal, NSS Programme Officers of both College and Collegiate School namely, Dr. Amanjyoti, Dr. Suvit Das, Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur, and Mrs. Mukti. Students participated in this competition enthusiastically and enjoyed it throroughly.
Motive of the Competition:
1. To promote physical fitness, healthy habits, and regular participation in sports.
2. To develop teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills through competitive play.
3. To raise awareness of National Sports Day and inspire pride in sporting role models like Major Dhyan Chand.
Outcome of the Competition :
1. Improved physical stamina, coordination, and understanding of team strategies.
2. Enhanced confidence, communication and collaborative abilities.
3. Strengthened team spirit and increased interest in regular sports and extracurricular participation.
4. Taught players to respect their opponents, follow rules and accept victory and defeat with dignity.
5. The talented players were identified for further training and higher-level competitions.
