Online webinar on "Women empowerment at Grassroots level"
Department of Public Administration, Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala, under the patronage of Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college organized a Webinar on “Women Empowerment at Grassroots Level, Problems and Ways Forward” on 23 rd June 2021. Dr. (Prof) Yatindra Singh Sisodia, Director, Madhya Pradesh Institute of Social Sciences Research, Ujjain (MP) was the Resource Person. Mrs. Renu Soni, Department of Public Administration extended a graceful welcome followed by the detailed profile of the keynote speaker. Dr Yatinder Singh Sisodia put light on various challenges and options relating to women empowerment. Addressing the national-
level webinar which was attended by over 200 participants, Dr Sisodia said empowered women can bring noticeable change in society and several studies across the country have substantiated this fact. In the areas, which are governed by women, the social vices are under control. He said women should be given free hand to take decisions and society should back their decisions. Dr Sisodia exhorted all women to participate actively in politics and refrain from becoming name-sake representatives only. He put light on different provisions of the Constitution which ensure women empowerment and highlighted the reasons behind the shortcomings. The webinar was followed by an interactive session in which Dr. Sisodia answered to the queries raised by participants on the issues relating to women empowerment. Dr. Sisoda advocated the need of educating women very strongly. He said, educated women can bring significant changes in the structure of society and guide others for taking full advantages of facilities and rights provided to them by the constitution of the country. Later, Coordinator, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Dr. Kulwinder Kaur, thanked the worthy resource person for a very relevant and enriching session. She quoted the examples from glorious past of our country and said that we all should work on uplifting the women by encouraging them to assert power and rights provided to them.
Outcome: Beneficiaries were illuminated about the different provisions of the Constitution stressing on women empowerment.
