Workshop on Punjab de Lok Geet

Workshop on "Folk Music of Punjab," was organized by the Department of Music and the resource person was Dr. Jatinder Kaur, an Associate Professor at Khalsa College for Women. During the workshop, She provided valuable insights into the rich tradition of folk music in Punjab. She discussed the different styles of Punjabi folk music, including Bhangra, Giddha, and Dhadi, and their historical significance. She also explained the various musical instruments used in Punjabi folk music, such as the dhol, tumbi, and sarangi. In addition to theoretical knowledge, She provided practical training in Punjabi folk music. Dr. Jatinder Kaur demonstrated different vocal and instrumental techniques used in Punjabi folk music and gave the participants an opportunity to try them out for themselves. The workshop was well-received by the participants, who were eager to learn about Punjabi folk music and its cultural significance. They appreciated the interactive nature of the workshop, which provided hands-on training and practical experience in Punjabi folk music.
