*Hariyali Teej celebrated with Mehndi and Bangle Stalls at Hindu Kanya College* The Department of Cosmetology of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala set up mehndi and bangle stalls on the occasion of Hariyali Teej on 12th August 2026. The purpose was to explain the importance of mehndi to students during the Teej festival; provide a platform to showcase their skills; and offer them an opportunity to become self-reliant alongside their studies. Hariyali Teej is a celebration of nature observed every year in the month of Sawan, conveying a message of joy and enthusiasm. The students participated enthusiastically at the mehndi stall. Students and teachers joyfully celebrated the festival by applying mehndi on their hands. While celebrating the happiness of Hariyali Teej, staff members and students together performed giddha and made the day memorable.

Partition Horrors Remembrance Day

'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' observed at Hindu Kanya College NSS Units of Hindu Kanya College and Collegiate School, Kapurthala, commemorated 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' (Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas) on 14th August 2026 to remember the sufferings of many Indians during the Partition. On this occasion, Dr. Aman Jyoti, NSS programme officer, elaborated the historical relevance of the day to the students. She stated that since 14 August 2021, 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' has been observed annually in India to honour the millions of lives lost, the massive displacement of 10 to 20 million people and the profound suffering during the 1947 Partition. It serves as a solemn reminder of the human cost of division. Dr. Aman Jyoti reminded the students to uphold the hard‑earned Indian freedom by contributing their services to the overall development of India. A highly moving documentary was also shown to students, depicting how numerous families were displaced and many lost their lives during the Partition. College Principal Dr. Archna Garg, while expressing her concern on the day, said that this day aims to remind all Indians of the need to remove social divisions and disharmony and to further strengthen the spirit of oneness, social harmony, and human empowerment. 'Sadbhawana Divas NSS Units of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala commemorated 'Sadbhawana Divas' on 20th August 2026 with 147 students from the NSS units taking part in it actively. On the occasion, Dr. Amanjyoti, NSS Programme Officer, enthused students to take a pledge to live together harmoniously, to foster love and to renounce jealousy and hostility towards one another in order to promote mutual affection and goodwill. It is noteworthy that in India, August 20 is observed annually as 'Sadbhawana Divas' on the Birth Anniversary of Former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi. The main aim of this day is to promote national unity, peace, love and communal harmony among people of all religions, languages and regions of the country. With the objective of fostering national unity, peace, sympathy and communal harmony among all religions, the programme was attended by the NSS Units of the College and the Collegiate School along with all the NSS Programme Officers namely Dr. Suvit Das, Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur, , Mrs. Hardeep Kaur, Mrs. Mukti, and Mrs. Reena Salota. OUTCOME: This event help keep students connected to national unity and integrity and help cultivate a spirit of harmony. National Sadbhawana Divas reminds us that unity and goodwill are not just concepts but virtues that need to be nurtured.

Road Safety Awareness Programme

*Road Safety Awareness Program at Hindu Kanya College* The ‘Joy of Safety’ – Road Safety Awareness Program was organized at Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala on 7th April 2026, with the joint efforts of the NSS units and Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited. Mr. Vikhyat Singh from Value Life Foundation graced the occasion as the Resource Person. This program has been an initiative of Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited, implemented by Value Life Foundation. Its objective is to promote road‑safety awareness among youth and encourage them to ride two‑wheelers with full responsibility. Mr. Vikhyat Singh sensitized the girl students about traffic rules, defensive riding, helmet usage, and safe behaviour on the roads through interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and community engagement. Volunteers participated enthusiastically in the quiz organized as a part of the program, and winners were given helmets, gifts and certificates.Four student volunteers—Harshdeep Malhi, Davinderdeep Kaur, Laxmi and Preeti—were appointed as Road Safety Ambassadors for their contribution in spreading awareness in society. Through this program, Suzuki Motorcycle India and Value Life Foundation promoted safe roads, responsible mobility, and a culture of road safety. The College Principal, Dr. Archna Garg, appreciated the event organized with the aim of raising awareness among students. NSS Program Officers Dr. Amanjyoti, Dr. Suvit Das and Mrs. Hardeep Kaur along with 109 student volunteers, attended the program. Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur, NSS Program Officer, anchored the proceedings.

Workshop on Airbrush & HD makeup

*Workshop on 'Airbrush Party Makeup' at Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala* The Department of Cosmetology of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala organized a workshop on the topic of 'Airbrush Party Makeup' on 23rd April 2026. The objective was to familiarize the students with new makeup techniques and raise awareness about the cosmetology subject. In this workshop, makeup expert Ms. Amandeep Kaur from Orane International, Kapurthala provided detailed information about makeup products to the students. Addressing the students and giving detailed information about makeup, she said that preparing the skin before using makeup products is very important; it cleans the skin pores; prepares the skin for makeup and results in a better makeup finish. She also gave a live demo of makeup in which she created a party makeup look. She satisfactorily answered the questions asked by the students. All students of the Cosmetology Department participated in this workshop.

हिंदी भाषा प्रोत्साहन दिवस

हिंदू कन्या कॉलेज, कपूरथला में दिनांक 23-09-2025 को हिंदी भाषा के महत्व और विकास को समर्पित 'हिंदी भाषा प्रोत्साहन समारोह' का आयोजन किया गया । समारोह में मुख्यातिथि के रूप में कॉलेज प्राचार्या डॉ. अर्चना गर्ग जी शोभायमान हुए । कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत विद्यालय गीत से हुई। पुष्पित अभिनंदन के बाद ज्योति प्रज्वलन की पावन रस्म अदा की गई। समारोह में आयोजित अन्तरकक्षा कविता उच्चारण प्रतियोगिता में छात्राओं ने उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लेते हुए हिंदी भाषा के प्रति सम्मान और समर्पण की अभिव्यक्ति दी गई । श्री गोपालदास नीरज, श्री हरिवंशराय बच्चन, राष्ट्रकवि श्री रामधारी सिंह दिनकर, अज्ञेय जैसे हिंदी के महान कवियों की कविताओं के साथ साथ कुछ छात्राओं ने स्वरचित कविताओं द्वारा हिंदी कविता की सशक्तता का परिचय दिया और अपनी रचनात्मकता तथा भावनात्मकता व्यक्त की । भाषा मंच के कन्वीनर डॉ. जसदीप कौर और डॉ. आईक्यूएसी को-ऑर्डिनेटर डॉ. ऋतु गुप्ता ने निर्णायक मंडल की अहम भूमिका निभाई । प्रतियोगिता में प्रीति कुमारी, बीए सेमेस्टर III ने पहला, किरणदीप कौर, बीकॉम सेमेस्टर I ने दूसरा और भूमिका, 10+2 नॉन मेडिकल ने तीसरा पुरस्कार प्राप्त किया । भूमिका, 10+2 कॉमर्स और तमन्ना, बीए सेमेस्टर I को प्रशंसा पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया ।इस अवसर पर हिंदी विभागाध्यक्ष डॉ. कुलविंदर कौर और डॉ. तेजिंदर कौर ने भी स्वरचित कविताओं की खूबसूरत प्रस्तुति दी । प्राचार्या महोदया डॉ. अर्चना गर्ग जी ने कहा भाषा के बिना हम अधूरे हैं। मातृभाषा हमारे अस्तित्व की पहचान है और हमें अपने जीवन में उसे उतना ही महत्व देना चाहिए जितना हम अपनी माँ को देते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि आज के दौर में कंपेटेटिव परीक्षा के लिए भी भाषा बहुत एहमियत रखती है जिसके लिए भाषा का ज्ञान अति आवश्यक है । हिंदी विभागाध्यक्ष डॉ. कुलविंदर कौर ने माननीय मुख्यातिथि महोदया के प्रति आभार व्यक्त किया । मंच का संचालन हिंदी विभाग के सहायक प्रो. डॉ. तजिंदर कौर तथा बीए सेमेस्टर - I की छात्रा कु. कविता ने बाखूबी किया। Beneficiaries - 125

Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala, in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services, Kapurthala, organized various Inter-College competitions under the aegis of the Red Ribbon Club on 18th February 2025. The event aimed at the all-round development of the students and providing a platform to showcase their talents. Shri Jaspal Singh, Assistant Director, Youth Services, Kapurthala, extended a warm verbal welcome to the guests and participants and stated that the participation in such competitions is the need of the hour and boosts students' confidence. Students from various institutions of Kapurthala and nearby areas actively participated in Poster Making, Slogan Writing, and Quiz Competitions, showcasing their talents. A Preliminary round was conducted for the Quiz, from which six teams advanced to the final round. On this occasion, District Sports Officer Shri Kulwinder Singh was specially present and judged the competitions. In the Slogan Writing Competition competition, Prajna from Lovely Professional University secured the first position, Maninder Kaur from Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala took the second position and Avneet Kaur from Guru Nanak College of Education, Kapurthala claimed the third position. In the Poster Making Competition, Sandeep Kaur from Bebe Nanki University College, Mithra won the first position, Ramandeep Kaur from Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala secured the second position and Kiranjeet Kaur from Bebe Nanki University College, Mithra and Arpanpreet Kaur from Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala shared the third position. In the Quiz, the team from Lovely Professional University got the first position, followed by the team from Guru Nanak College of Education, Kapurthala on the second position and the team from Hindu Kanya College on the third position. College Principal Dr. Archna Garg praised the efforts of the Red Ribbon Club Convener Mrs. Sarika Kanda and her team, stating that such activities are organized to hone students' talents. Dr. Kulwinder Kaur and Shri Jaspal Singh honoured the winners by presenting them with medals and certificates. Awareness Talk on "Thalassemia"

An Extension Lecture on 'Thalassemia' was organized by the Red Ribbon Club and Red Cross Club of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala, with the aim of making students aware of their health. Dr. Surjeet Kaur, a renowned gynecologist, social worker, former President of the Inner Wheel Club of India Association and a prominent leader, graced the occasion as the Resource Person. On this occasion, Dr. Meena Sethi, President, Inner Wheel Club of Kapurthala and Mrs. Sonika Aggarwal, DESO, Inner Wheel Club of Kapurthala, were specially present. Addressing the students, Dr. Surjeet Kaur explained that Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder. In this condition, the body fails to produce sufficient or proper haemoglobin, leading to anemia or blood deficiency. She stated that it is inherited through genes from parents. She discussed the symptoms of this disease in detail and emphasized that testing before pregnancy and genetic counseling are extremely important for prevention. It can be prevented through timely testing and proper treatment. College Principal Dr. Archna Garg appreciated the efforts of Mrs. Sarika Kanda, Convener of Red Ribbon and Red Cross Clubs and her team, stating that awareness on such health-related topics is very essential for making students conscious about their health. *हिंदू कन्या कॉलेज, कपूरथला में 'वर्ल्ड एड्स डे' के अवसर पर पोस्टर मेकिंग प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन* दिनांक 01-12-25 को 'वर्ल्ड एड्स डे' के अवसर पर सहायक निदेशक, युवा सेवाएं, कपूरथला के निर्देशन में हिंदू कन्या कॉलेज के रैड रिबन क्लब की ओर से पोस्टर मेकिंग प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गया जिसका उद्देश्य विद्यार्थियों को एचआईवी/एड्स के बारे में जागरूक करना है। इस मौके पर हुए पोस्टर मेकिंग प्रतियोगिता में छात्राओं ने उत्साह से भाग लिया। प्रतियोगिता में 10+2 मेडिकल से दिलशान अख्तर प्रथम रही । 10+2 आर्ट्स से सिमरणप्रीत कौर दूसरे स्थान पर रही और 10+1 आर्ट्स से खुशी शर्मा ने तीसरा स्थान प्राप्त किया । इंजीनियर सुनाली शर्मा, डॉ. अनुपम सभरवाल और श्रीमती गीता चोपड़ा ने प्रतियोगिता की जजमेंट की । कॉलेज के कार्यकारी प्राचार्या डॉ. कुलविंदर कौर ने विद्यार्थियों को जागरूक करने के लिए रैड रिबन क्लब की इस पहल की सराहना की और क्लब के कन्वीनर श्रीमती सारिका कांडा और उनकी टीम को भविष्य में भी ऐसे कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया।
