Extension lecture on Soil and water conservation

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala organized a Seminar on 'Benefits of Soil and Water Conservation to Farmers' at Village Muskved on February 11, 2025, aiming to raise awareness among farmers. The seminar featured S. Himmat Singh, Agriculture Sub-Inspector from the Department of Soil and Water Conservation, as the esteemed speaker. During the seminar, S. Himmat Singh addressed the villagers, highlighting the benefits of soil and water conservation for farmers. He also discussed significant government initiatives and provided information on conservation and optimal utilization of water resources. Additionally, he responded to queries from farmers and provided satisfactory answers. Beneficiaries-75 Motive- To create awareness among farmers abour soil ans water conservation Outcome-It equipped farmers with practical techniques to reduce soil erosion, improve water efficiency, boost crop productivity, and promote long-term environmental sustainability.

Hindu Kanya College contributed relief material to the flood-affected families*

Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala extended a compassionate hand to the flood-affected homeless families by contributing Rs. 35,000 in cash alongwith relief material including clothes, blankets, and footwear to the residents of Village Baupur, Sultanpur Lodhi. The initiative was carried out under the aegis of the College NSS Units and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell. Dr. Anupam Sabharwal from the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell, along with NSS Programme Officers Mrs. Suvit Das and Mrs. Mukti, led this humanitarian drive. Mr. Jaspal Singh, Director, Youth Services, and Village Sarpanch Sardar Gurmeet Singh also accompanied the team during the relief mission.

Prof. Pooja Kansra, Professor, Mittal School of Business, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara chaired the session as the Resource Person. Dr. Anupam Sabharwal, Head of the organizing department welcomed the speaker. Dr. Pooja enlightened the students with the pertinent challenges related to agriculture, service sectors, unemployment, drug crisis, skill gap and immigration etc. College Principal Dr. Archna Garg applauded the departmental initiative to enlighten students with the useful information relevant with the present scenario. 70 students from the department attended this knowledgeable session. *Industrial Visit to Verka Milk Plant by Hindu Kanya College* The Department of Economics of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala organized an Industrial Visit to Verka Milk Plant, Jalandhar on 18th February 2025.The visit aimed to provide experiential learning among students. Under this outdoor learning experience, 18 students from the Department, led by Dr. Anupam Sabharwal, Head, Department of Economics participated in the visit and gained hands-on knowledge about the milk plant's operations. They learned about milk production, manufacturing of various milk products, processing and packaging. Dr. Baljit Kaur, Associate Professor and Head of the Punjab School of Economics at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar chaired the session as the Resource Person, who enlightened the students about a pressing issue posed in the present Punjab, that is the economic trajectory of Punjab — its challenges and the promising opportunities that lie ahead. Dr. Baljit said that Punjab’s economy is currently grappling with concerns such as economic slowdown, unemployment, fiscal stress and agricultural fatigue. She also stated that the state brims with potential in domains like industrial diversification, infrastructure development and the growth of the service sector. Dr. Anupam Sabharwal, Head of the Department of Economics paid her gratitude to the Resource Person for the knowledgeable session. Dr. Davinder Singh Saini from General Shivdev Singh Diwan Gurbachan Singh Khalsa College, Patiala graced the event as the keynote speaker. Dr. Bhupinder Kaur, Head of the Punjabi Department introduced the speaker and elaborated on the objectives of the event. Dr. Davinder Singh highlighted the inspiring aspects of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji’s life, emphasizing his ideals of courage, spirituality, and patriotism and reminded students that humanity remains forever indebted to his supreme sacrifice. He encouraged the younger generation to draw inspiration from Guru ji’s life and adopt moral and humanistic values for personal growth. Enactment of One Act Play 'Dhan Likhari Nanaka'

The Post Graduate Department of Punjabi of the College organized a spectacular performance of the play 'Dhann Likhari Nanaka', written, directed and starring renowned playwright, director and actor Dr. Sahib Singh. Shri Tilak Raj Aggarwal, President, College Management Committee, presided over the function. Dr. Bhupinder Kaur, Head, P.G. Department of Punjabi introduced Dr. Sahib Singh's life experiences, creativity and hard work. Dr. Sahib Singh then presented the play "Dhann Likhari Nanaka" on stage, highlighting the writer's thoughts and mental struggle to write the truth and showcasing the glory of Punjab and Punjabi culture. After the play, Dr. Bhupinder Kaur interacted with Dr. Sahib Singh, who shared his life experiences, emphasizing the responsibility of writers to reflect society's reality and the importance of courage in achieving success. Dr. Sahib Singh also inspired young students to take pride in themselves and move forward with full confidence. NSS Units of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala observed National Unity Day on 31st October 2025 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The celebration began with a special assembly where Dr. Aman jyoti, NSS Programme Officer, highlighted the remarkable contributions of Sardar Patel in uniting the nation and strengthening the pillars of India’s unity, integrity and solidarity. Students took a solemn oath to uphold the values and ideals exemplified by the great freedom fighter, pledging to respect India’s rich cultural diversity and uniqueness.They also resolved to promote swadeshi values by prioritizing indigenous products over foreign goods.

The students showcased their artistic skills, which provided them with a platform for self-reliance. The stall witnessed a lot of enthusiasm among both teachers and students. Despite the ongoing Pre-Semester Examination, the students were enthusiastic and participated eagerly in getting mehndi applied, making the stall a grand success.
