Environment Oriented Three- Day Activities

The Eco Club of the college organized various environment related activities under the 'Mission Life', Environment Education Programme' from March 24 to March 26. The main objective of these activities was to promote environmental conservation under the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. As part of this program, the Eco Club organized an Educational Visit to the Pushpa Gujral Science City for students. During this visit, students explored various sites, including the Dinosaur Park, Art Gallery and Dome Theatre and also watched a climate show. A Three-Day Workshop on "Best Out of Waste" was also organized, where students learned to create new and useful items from discarded materials. Ms. Ravina from the Department of Fashion Designing demonstrated how to create fashionable bags, decorative items and planters from waste materials. Dr. Veena, Member, Eco Club administered an oath to the students to protect and conserve the environment. During these environmental conservation activities, Ms. Reena Salota delivered a speech dedicated to World Water Day, emphasizing the importance of saving every drop of water. Motive: 1. To promote environmental conservation and sustainability among students through hands-on activities and educational experiences. 2. To inspire students to adopt eco-friendly practices and reduce waste generation. 3. To raise awareness about the importance of natural resource conservation, such as water. Outcome: Students gained practical knowledge and skills on creating useful items from waste materials, promoting sustainable living practices. The activities instilled a sense of responsibility and commitment among students to protect and conserve the environment. Students became more aware of the importance of natural resource conservation, such as water, and were motivated to contribute to environmental conservation efforts. Environment Supporting Activities

As per the directions issued by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change ( MoEF & CC), Govt.of India and the State Nodal Agency, Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, the Eco Club of the College organized an activity under the Environment Education Program on 12th & 13th November 2024. Ms. Ravina, Member of the Cell conducted a workshop on 'Best Out of Waste' and demonstrated various methods to create new items from the discarded materials available at home. Additionally, students participated in cleanliness activity under the leadership of Mrs. Seema, Convener and Dr. Veena Kumari, Member of the Cell. Students cleaned and beautified the college garden with herbal and ornamental plants. 35 students participated in this environment awareness program. During these two activities, children created various articles, including lace designs, wall paintings, pot paintings and learned how to transform discarded bottles into beautiful flowerpots using materials readily available at home. Students also took the pledge to protect their environment and to keep it clean, green and hygienic. Motive : 1. To raise awareness among students about the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability. 2. To promote creative reuse of waste materials and reduce waste generation. 3. To instill a sense of responsibility among students towards maintaining a clean, green, and hygienic environment. Outcome: Students learned creative ways to transform waste materials into useful and decorative items, promoting sustainable living practices. They developed a sense of responsibility towards environmental conservation and pledged to keep their surroundings clean, green, and hygienic. Tree Plantation

Tree Plantation under the Environment Education Programme ( EEP) was conduction to educate students regarding protecting and preserving their environment by planting more and more trees. Padma Shri Mrs. Rajni Bector, Renowned Entrepreneur and Founder of Cremica & Mrs. Bector Food Specialities Limited planted tree saplings in the college campus and encouraged students to plant trees to make their vicinity clean and green. Motive : 1. :To educate students about the importance of protecting and preserving the environment through tree plantation under the Environment Education Programme (EEP). (ii)To encourage students to plant more trees to keep their vicinity clean and green. Tree Plantation Activity

A Tree Plantation activity was organized by the Eco Club of the college to carry the environmental mission nurtured by the Environment Education Programme (EEP). Student volunteers of Eco Club planted the saplings inside and around the College premises. Extension lecture on Soil and water conservation

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala organized a Seminar on 'Benefits of Soil and Water Conservation to Farmers' at Village Muskved on February 11, 2025, aiming to raise awareness among farmers. The seminar featured S. Himmat Singh, Agriculture Sub-Inspector from the Department of Soil and Water Conservation, as the esteemed speaker. During the seminar, S. Himmat Singh addressed the villagers, highlighting the benefits of soil and water conservation for farmers. He also discussed significant government initiatives and provided information on conservation and optimal utilization of water resources. Additionally, he responded to queries from farmers and provided satisfactory answers. Prof. Pooja Kansra, Professor, Mittal School of Business, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara chaired the session as the Resource Person. Dr. Anupam Sabharwal, Head of the organizing department welcomed the speaker. Dr. Baljit Kaur, Associate Professor and Head of the Punjab School of Economics at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar chaired the session as the Resource Person, who enlightened the students about a pressing issue posed in the present Punjab, that is the economic trajectory of Punjab — its challenges and the promising opportunities that lie ahead. Dr. Baljit said that Punjab’s economy is currently grappling with concerns such as economic slowdown, unemployment, fiscal stress and agricultural fatigue. She also stated that the state brims with potential in domains like industrial diversification, infrastructure development and the growth of the service sector.
