The Department of Social Sciences of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala celebrated the " National Constitution Day" to educate students about the importance of the Indian Constitution and to raise awareness about their duties. On this occasion, Mrs. Varinder Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, addressed the students and highlighted the significance of National Constitution Day. She explained that the Indian Constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949, and came into effect on January 26, 1950, to ensure the smooth functioning of the country. She also mentioned that the Indian Constitution is the longest in the world and was originally handwritten in Hindi and English. The Preamble to the Constitution is its soul, providing insight into the Constitution's principles and objectives.On the occasion of Constitution Day, students took an oath to fulfill their duties as ideal citizens, protect the unity and integrity of the nation, and uphold the principles of the Constitution. Beneficiaries- 185 Motive- To commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution, promoting awareness, understanding, and reverence for the foundational document that upholds the country's democratic values and principles. Celebration of National Voter Day

Electoral Literacy Club of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala, celebrated 'National Voters Day' on January 25, 2025, to raise awareness among students about the importance of voting. The Electoral Literacy Club organized the event, where Club Incharge Mrs. Varinder Kaur addressed the students, emphasizing the significance of voting and its impact on nation-building. She encouraged the students to vote judiciously and contribute to building a strong India. To promote voting awareness among youth, a signature campaign was organized and a voters' awareness song was presented by Amanpreet Kaur, student from the Department of Music. An online video message from India's Chief Election Commissioner, Shri Rajiv Kumar was also presented. The students took an oath to exercise their right to vote. Mr. Priyanshu, Block Manager from Skill Training Centre laid emphasis on Punjab Skill Development Mission to avail free of cost courses and digital literacy. Mrs. Ranjit Kaur from Rural Skill Centre, Punjab National Bank talked about its bank schemes and courses. Mr. Gurmeet Singh from the Industrial sector talked about various Industrial department schemes. Dr Rajan, District Employment Generation and Training Officer, in the concluding session motivated students to enhance their knowledge base to upskill their potential with skill training. Shaheed- e-Azam Bhagat Singh is the epitome of selfless love for one's nation and equally unmatched is the sacrifice rendered by Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Sukhdev and Shaheed Rajguru for laying down their precious lives to protect their beloved Mother India. The Department of Social Sciences of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala paid it's heartfelt homage to these three great revolutionaries by organizing a variety of activities on the Martyrdom Day of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh on 23rd March 2024. Mrs. Seema Rani, Head, Department of Social Sciences delivered a talk highlighting the importance of the day and relevance of Shaheed Bhagat Singh' s vision for the present youth till date. Students also presented their perspective through declamation elaborating Bhagat Singh's ideology and saluted his unmatched patriotic zeal. *District Level Competitions of Red Ribbon Clubs held at Hindu Kanya College* As per the directions issued by the Office, Assistant Director, Youth Services, Kapurthala, the Red Ribbon Club of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala hosted the District Level Competitions for Red Ribbon Clubs of different colleges in collaboration with PSACS on 22nd March 2024. These competitions were Poster Making, Collage Making and Slogan Making based on the themes 'HIV/AIDS Awareness', 'Voluntary Blood Donation Awareness', 'HIV-TB Awareness' and 'Drug Abuse and Dependence Awareness'. Dr. Ritu Gupta, Dr. Bhupinder Kaur, Dr. Parmjeet Kaur, Mrs. Sapna Bhalla, Er. Inderjit Bal, and Ms. Ravina adjudged the competitions. In the Slogan Making Competition, Neha from Hindu Kanya College and Mehakpreet Kaur from Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Sultanpur Lodhi secured the first position, while Kannan from Hindu Kanya College Jasleen from Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Sultanpur Lodhi secured the second position. An awareness talk on ''Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace' was organised by the Students Legal Literacy Cell for the college students. Advocate Deepti Marwaha and Advocate Vibhuti Sharma from District Courts, Kapurthala apprised students about the different forms of sexual harassment of women at work place and elaborated the special acts and legal provisions available to protect women rights. Motive : To make girl students aware of their legal rights and special legal provisions supporting women rights. Health and happiness are two basic pillars that support a sound life and also promote a positivity at work place or home front for the staff . To emphasize the relation between happiness and health, a Seminar on 'Health and Happiness' was arranged for the teaching and non-teaching staff by Staff Academy of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala on 27th March 2024. The Resource Person of the session was Mrs. Goldi Gupta, faculty, Art of Living, Yoga trainer and a Wellness Coach from Kapurthala. She enlightened the staff about the mind-body connection which goes deeper than many people realize, and a troubled mind can contribute to health problems which further hinder our performance at work place and affects the personal life. She emphasized on the importance of maintaining a self control over our faculties of body, mind, intellect through 'Sudarshan Kriya' and meditation.

Suresh, Vice Principal and Director, IQAC from Rathinam College of Arts and Science, Echanari Coimbatore, who chaired the Webinar organized by the Staff Academy of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala on 'Pedagogical Approaches' held on 3rd April 2024. Dr. Suresh said that the importance and need of the pedagogical innovations have increased recently as these provide teachers an insight into the latest and the best teaching approaches so that they can tailor their lesson to suit the diverse needs of the young learners in the present scenario. Dr. Suresh said that the innovative teaching methods encourage students and teachers to do the research, explore, and use all the tools to uncover something new. He elaborated the characteristics of a good teacher and the pedagogical approaches and methods. He said that the innovative teaching approaches improve the quality of the content delivery and learning outcomes because these compel teachers as well as students to use a higher level of thinking to solve the complex problems and improve their relationship. He said that the goal of these teaching methods and approaches is to increase students' engagement and prepare them for the up coming future.

Seminar on 'Vermicomposting'

As per the directions issued by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change ( MoEF & CC), Govt.of India and the State Nodal Agency, Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, the Nature Eco Club arranged a Seminar on 'Vermi Composting' under Environment Education Programme. The Resource Person, Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Head- cum- Senior Scientist, Regional Centre Farm Advisory, Service Centre, Kapurthala while highlighting the importance of vermicomposting said that this method converts organic waste into a valuable soil amendment for plants and crops. He said that the vermicompost is different from fertilizer and when it is added to the soil, it boosts the nutrients for the growth of the plants and enhances the soil structure. Motive : The objective of this seminar was to make young students aware regarding the importance of vermicomposting and the methods to use it. Outcome: Students learnt how to convert an organic waste into useful vermicompost. The insightful seminar spread environment awareness among students and encouraged students to adopt such environment protecting methods like vermicomposting.

Workshop on "Making Bags from Waste and Used Cloth Material'

A Two-Day Workshop was organized for training students in making bags from waste and discarded clothes under 'Mission Life EEP' on 16th & 18th April 2024. Under the supervision of Mrs. Seema Thakur, Convenor. Dr. Veena made students take pledge not to harm environment and adopt environment friendly methods. Ms. Ravina demonstrated how to make bags from the waste jeans and waste clothes. Motive: The objective of this workshop was to promote the environment protection campaign under 'Punjab State Council for Science and Technology' and MOEFSC and to teach young students the art of reusing old and discarded household items. Outcome : Students not only learnt how to reuse the old, discarded cloth material and make beautiful bags from them, but they also learnt the importance of recycling and reusing old and discarded things available at their home. The activity sensitised them to participate and contribute towards environment protecting initiatives.

The 29th Convocation Ceremony & Prize Distribution Ceremony of the college was held. Professor (Dr.) Nirmaljit Singh Kalsi, IAS (Retd.), former Chairman of National Council for Vocational Education and Training, and Additional Chief Secretary, Punjab, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Renowned Civil Engineer and Founder of Samkalp, an NGO, Delhi, Dr. Santosh Taneja was present as the Guest of Honour. College Managing Committee Chairman Shri Tilak Raj Aggarwal, Vice Chairman Shri Arihant Aggarwal, Manager Shri Ashwini Aggarwal, Joint Secretary Madam Adarsh Parti, Principal Dr. Archna Garg, Principals and representatives from various schools and colleges, parents of graduates and postgraduates attended the ceremony. Principal Dr. Archna Garg presented the college's Annual Report on the academic and co-curricular activities along with the sessional achievements. Chief Guest Dr. Nirmaljit Singh Kalsi awarded degrees to 170 students and conferred prizes to over 125 students. In the "Dikshant Samkalp", the graduates took the pledge to dedicate themselves to academic and social responsibilities. The cultural program presented on this occasion captivated the audience with mesmerizing performances, including the Punjabi folk song 'Mirza', the divine presentation of 'Namoh-Namoh' worship, the vibrant folk dance "Sammi" and a choreography dedicated to the brave soldiers who protect the nation. Zonal Youth Festival-2024

The college achieved remarkable victory in the Zonal Youth Festival of D- Zone in the B- Division, held at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar on October 29 and 30, 2024 by winning Championship Trophy for the 11th time. College students excelled across various categories by proudly earning the first position in Vaar Singing, Group Shabad Bhajan, Group Song Indian, Classical Vocal Solo, Collage, Clay Modelling, On the Spot Photography, Rangoli, Phulkari, Mehandi and Poster Making. Students got second position in Western Vocal Solo, Cartooning, Costume Parade and Skit . Whereas, in Classical Instrumental (Percussion), Painting on the Spot, Installation, Geet/ Ghazal and Folk Song, students were placed at the third position. Motive : To prepare and enthuse students to polish and exhibit their skills and talents in extra curricular activities beyond college. Seven Days NSS Camp

On 24th December 2023, NSS Volunteers of NSS Units of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala organised an inaugural ceremony of Seven Day NSS Camp at Village Rupanpur by planting saplings in the ground of Government Elementary School of the same village. Total 103 NSS volunteers from the college participated in this camp. Principal Dr. Archna Garg and School Academic Incharge Mr. Sanjeev Bhalla graced the function with their benign presence. NSS Volunteers started the inaugural ceremony by singing NSS Song with zeal and fervour. Madam Principal encouraged the NSS Volunteers of the camp to channelize their youthful energy enthusiastically in the generous service towards the community. NSS Programme Officer, Mrs. Mukti hosted the function. In the Tree Plantation event, Dr. Sulakhan Singh, Sarpanch, Village Rupanpur, Mrs. Sukhwinder Kaur, Sarpanch, Village Nizampur, Mr. Jatinder Singh from Village Vijola, Mrs. Gurmeet Kaur and Mrs. Renu Bala from Government Elementary School, Rupanpur were present. On 25th December 2023, NSS Volunteers organised a Cleanliness Drive at Government Elementary School of Village Rupanpur in which NSS volunteers contributed their services to clean the school campus. During the afternoon session of the Camp, a Workshop on *Crafting Wall Paintings Out of Waste Material* was organised for the volunteers in the school premises in which Ms. Ravina, Assistant Professor from Fashion Designing Department demonstrated the art of making beautiful paintings from the waste products. On 26th December 2023, NSS volunteers organised a Nukkad Natak at Village Rupanpur to spread awareness among women sarpanches for realising their rights and obligations rather than being sheer the nominal heads of the Gram Panchayat. In the afternoon session a Workshop on DigiLocker and mAadhaar Applications was organised for the volunteers in the college premises in which Er. Tanya Goel, Faculty from the Department of Computer Science and IT detailed an array of user friendly facilities and secure document wallet provisions provided to the user on these Apps. On 27th December 2023, NSS volunteers organised a Rally to spread awareness among villagers regarding their voting rights for promoting fairness in forthcoming election and planted saplings of flowers in the premises of the Government Elementary School, Rupanpur. Students also participated in the signature and literacy campaign in which they taught the villagers how to sign and write their names. In the afternoon session a Workshop on 'Innovative Ideas of Preparing Files' was organised for the volunteers in the college premises in which Mrs. Avninder Kaur and Ms. Harkirat Kaur from the Department of Fashion Designing demonstrated artistic ways to prepare files before student volunteers. On 28th December 2023, NSS Units arranged a Medical Camp at Village Rupanpur. Dr. Yogesh Sehgal, Ayurvedic Medical Officer and his medical team from Civil Hospital, Kapurthala performed the basic checkup of the villagers. Students contributed their services in organizing this camp and also tended the saplings of flowers planted by them in the Government Elementary School, Rupanpur. Students participated in the literacy and signature campaign enthusiastically and taught villagers how to write Punjabi Gurmukhi and to make simple two lettered words. On 29th December 2023, NSS Units arranged a lecture at village Rupanpur which was delivered by Ms. Priyamvada Pandey, Senior Branch Manager, Central Bank of India, who apprised students and the villagers regarding various bank schemes like Sukanya Samriddhi available for a single girl child. Students contributed their services in preparation and distribution of langar at Village Gurudwara. In the afternoon session, a Workshop on ‘Hair Styling’ was arranged for the students in which Mrs. Supriya Sharma and her assistant Ms. Jasdeep Kaur from the Department of Cosmetology demonstrated different hair styles. Students participated in all these activities with great enthusiasm. On 30th December 2023, the Closing Function of Seven Day NSS Camp was organized in which NSS Volunteers of NSS Units of Hindu Kanya Collegiate School, Kapurthala showcased their talents and shared their experiences through their speeches, songs and poems. Mr. Sulakhan Singh Sarpanch of Village Rupanpur, Mrs. Sukhwinder Kaur, Sarpanch of Village Nizampur, Mr. Jatinder from village Vijola graced the event as the Chief Guest. Event was started with NSS Song, the many other cultural items were presented. After that NSS Programme Officer Madam Amanjyoti read the report of NSS Days. Dr. Archna Garg appreciated organizers' strenuous endeavours for arranging versatile activities and special workshops to cater skill based education to the NSS volunteers. She also motivated students to attend such personality enhancing and community serving camps and activities. Objective: To understand the community in which they work and to identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process. Department of Computer Science and I.T. shared their learning experience of Seven Day National FDP on ‘Innovative and Quality Teaching and Learning in HEIs’ organized by IOT Academy, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu from 11th to 19th December 2023. In the first session of the FDP, Er. Sunali Sharma elaborated the importance of adopting innovative pedagogical teaching and learning methods to engage the students in the learning process. She said that the students' learning outcome can be improved as well as assessed through latest learning softwares and Apps. In the 2nd Session of the FDP, Er. Inderjit Kaur Bal discoursed on the 'Quality Teaching and Learning in HEI's' through different teaching platforms and Apps, the Learning Management Systems(LMS), Collaboration Tools, the screen recording and Animation tools. She also explained the rising importance of Mind Mapping Tools and latest e-resources available on different platforms. She further enlightened the staff on "Stress and Time Management'. She said the teachers must maintain a balance between their personal and professional life. She laid emphasis on 'ABC' strategy which is based on 'Awareness', 'Balance' and 'Control'. She offered some useful tips to manage time.In the end, she explained briefly the characteristics of effective mentors and also mentioned the mentoring techniques.

Kalash Yatra was taken out under the leadership of Commissioner Municipal Corporation Kapurthala Anupam Keller under the campaign 'Meri Mati, Mera Desh' of the Government of India, in which NSS Volunteers of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala also particiapted. Kalash Yatra started from Sainik School and passed through different markets of the city and ended at Bhagat Singh Chowk. Commissioner Anupam Keller said that 'Meri Mati, Mera Desh' campaign is a campaign of the Government of India. The aim of the Government of India is that soil from different areas will be collected in an urn and transported to Delhi, where Amrit Vatika will be built dedicated to the martyrs. Motive: The main purpose of the Kalash Kalash Yatra is to pay homage to the freedom fighters and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country. She stated that lack of physical activity, junk food, and excessive starch consumption are leading to this issue. To overcome this, we need to change our lifestyle, incorporate yoga and physical activities into our daily routine, and consume whole grains, fruits, and homemade products. Taniya of 10 +1, Parminder Kaur of B.A.-2nd Semester and Riya of 10+2 were declared the best entries from Punjabi, Hindi and English mediums respectively. The conference hall echoed with the motivational song, "Mein Bharat hoon, Bharat hain mujhme" released by The Election Comission of India on the occasion. Students were also made to participate in the Voter's pledge ceremony in which all students took a pledge to cast their vote as responsible citizens.

*हिन्दू कन्या कॉलेज, कपूरथला में हिन्दी भाषा प्रोत्साहन समारोह का आयोजन* दिनांक 19-09-24 को हिंदू कन्या कॉलेज, कपूरथला के स्नातकोत्तर हिंदी विभाग द्वारा हिंदी भाषा की शक्ति और सामर्थ्य को समर्पित हिंदी भाषा प्रोत्साहन समारोह का आयोजन किया गया। समारोह में मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में डॉ. अमरसिंह वधान (एमेरिट्स प्रोफेसर), विशिष्ट अतिथि के रूप में डॉ. अजय शर्मा, शिरोमणि साहित्यकार, डॉ. हरनीत कौर शोभायमान हुए । कॉलेज प्रबंधक समिति के अध्यक्ष श्री तिलकराज अग्रवाल जी ने कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता की । इस अवसर पर भीष्म साहनी की कहानी 'चीफ की दावत' का नाट्य रूपांतरण प्रस्तुत किया गया । क्विज़ प्रतियोगिता की मेजबानी डॉ. कुलविंदर कौर, अध्यक्ष, हिंदी विभाग ने की। भारती, वाणी, शारदा व पद्मा टीमों की रोचक प्रतियोगिता में हंसराज ममहिला महाविद्यालय की टीम भारती ने प्रथम स्थान प्राप्त किया। कार्यक्रम के विशिष्ट अतिथि डॉ. अजय शर्मा ने अपने संबोधन में कहा कि हिंदी रोज़गार की भाषा है । अपने अंदर एक जुनून पैदा करें, खुद को अपने कदमों में सफलता के काबिल बनाएं। मुख्यातिथि डॉ. अमरसिंह वधान ने हिंदी भाषा के महत्व पर ज़ोर देते हुए विद्यार्थियों से कहा कि इस डिजिटल युग में हिंदी ही एकमात्र ऐसी भाषा है जो सभी को जोड़ने का काम करती है। हिंदी का हर शब्द जब दूसरे शब्दों के साथ ठीक से मिल जाता है तो गहरे अर्थ की समरूपता पैदा करता है। भाषा साहित्य को समृद्ध बनाती है। विशिष्ट अतिथि डॉ. हरनीत कौर ने हिंदी दिवस की बधाई देते हुए कहा कि भाषा ही वह साधन है जिसके माध्यम से हम अपने विचारों और भावनाओं को प्रभावशाली ढंग से व्यक्त कर सकते हैं। साप्ताहिक गतिविधियों में *हिन्दी भाषा प्रोत्साहन सप्ताह* का शुभारम्भ 14 सितम्बर को हिन्दी दिवस को समर्पित विशेष असेम्बली द्वारा किया गया। इस अवसर पर डॉ. तेजिंदर कौर, सहायक प्रो., हिंदी विभाग ने विद्यार्थियों को संबोधित करते हुए हिंदी भाषा की महत्ता बताई और सप्ताह भर की गतिविधियों का विवरण दिया। 16 सितंबर को हस्ताक्षर अभियान एवं शब्दज्ञान प्रतियोगिता, 17 सितंबर को चित्र से मौलिक रचना लेखन प्रतियोगिता, 18 सितंबर को 'मेरी भाषा हिंदी' विषय पर निबंध लेखन प्रतियोगिताएं आयोजित की गई । अंत में कॉलेज प्राचार्य डॉ. अर्चना गर्ग जी ने हिंदी दिवस की बधाई देते हुए कहा कि हिंदी भाषा न केवल हमारी पहचान है, बल्कि यह हमारे जीवन मूल्यों, संस्कृति और परंपराओं की सही संवाहक और संप्रेषक भी है। हमें उसका सम्मान करना चाहिए । कॉलेज में पधारे मुख्य अतिथि एवं विशिष्ट अतिथि को स्मृति चिह्न प्रदान किए गए ।

The session was conducted by Mr. Nagesh Kumar, a Company Secretary (CS), Chartered Financial Analyst and CME. The event was attended by students of the P.G. Department of Commerce to explore career opportunities in the field of corporate governance and compliance. The expert elaborated the role of a Company Secretary, emphasizing on how the CS acts as a vital link between the company, its board of directors and regulatory authorities. He further explained that the CS profession is responsible for ensuring that companies comply with all legal and regulatory requirements; maintain corporate governance standards, and manage statutory records. Mehndi Competition and Stall on Hariyali Teej

Hariyali Teej Festival was celebrated on 7/8/2024 by arranging Mehandi Stall for the staff and students by the Department of Cosmetology. Students and teachers danced on the drum beats of the traditional tunes with full gusto and festive zeal, participated in the Mahendi Competition and got the golden opportunity to hone their personal grooming skills and showcase their ingenuity in applying mehandi designs. Muskanpreet of 10+2 ( Commerce) got the first position in the competition whereas the second position was clenched by Sneha Sharma of B. Com.- 1st Semester. The third position was shared by Taniya of B. A. -1st Semester and Rajvir Kaur of 10+2(Medical). Meera Gill of B. A. - 1st Semester received the Appreciation prize in the same event. The event provided an encouraging platform for the budding mehandi artists under the scheme, "Earn While You Learn" run by the College for the skill and vocational development of the students. Arjuna Awardee, a legendary Basketball player, S. Sajjan Singh Cheema, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. From the College Management Committee, President Sh. Tilak Raj Aggarwal, Joint Secretary Mrs. Adarsh Parti, Member Shri O. P. Behl, Convener, Sports Sub Committee presided over the function. Sh. Satish Sharma, Deputy Director, Sports (Retd.) and Member, College Vision Committee welcomed the chief guest and encouraged students to prioritize both sports as well as studies for their physical as well as mental wellbeing. The sports events of students started with 100m Race. Students enthralled the audience by exhibiting their physical agility in races like Sack Race, 200m Race, Chatti Race and Frog Race. Mellifluous musical performances by the students of Music Department mesmerized the audience. Students displayed their athletic talents through other events like Obstacle Race, 4*100m Relay Race, Three-Legged Race, Skipping and Marble Race. The teachers also got an opportunity to prove their physical fitness by participating in Tug of War. Chief Guest congratulated the winners and motivated students to embrace sportsmanship and discipline to achieve success in every phase of life. In the end, winners were awarded medals. It also aimed at preventing the initiation of drug use to overcome their stress. Report: A Declamation contest was organized on 'Drug Abuse' on 3rd November 2023 at Government Senior Secondary School, Sidhwan Dona. Nine Students of the school expressed their grave concern regarding the drug addiction and it's catastrophic impact on the lives of young people. The competition was adjudged by Mrs. Neelam Danish and Mrs. Dheeraj Walia. NCC and NSS Units along with Nature Eco Club of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala observed one-day cleanliness drive under the 'Swachta Hi Sewa' campaign on 30th September 2023. 40 NCC Cadets cleaned the historical monuments of the town which included Moorish Mosque, Janjh Ghar and Shiv Mandir. 31 student volunteers from NSS Units and Nature Eco Club cleaned the roadside ramps, staircase area opposite Reliance Trends at Mall Road and Ride area of Camera Bagh, Kapurthala. Students' Orientation and Investiture Ceremony were organized to introduce the newly elected Students' Council of the college and Captains and Vice Captains of four Houses of the Collegiate School. Pragna, student of B.C.A.- 5th Semester was elected as the Head Girl and Amandeep Kaur, student of B. Com. -5th Semester became the Vice Head Girl of the college. Binay from 10+2( Commerce) was declared as the Head Girl of the collegiate school. Dr. Bhupinder Kaur and Dr. Anupam Sabharwal Sharma were elected as Staff Representatives of Students' Council. An Oath Ceremony for the newly elected Students' Council was also arranged.In Students' Orientation, College Principal, Dr. Archna Garg elaborated the importance of reading Prospectus of the college to know about the code of conduct, motto of the year and other significant rules chalked for the students during their stay in the college. Outcome: Student Council was officially elected and vested with the responsibility to contribute their novel ideas and active services for the smooth and improved functioning of the college. Induction Programme for the New Entrants

An Induction Program "Know Your College" was arranged for the First Year Students of all streams to acquaint the new entrants of the college about academic and co - academic facilities and support services available in the college. On this occasion, Shri Arun Kaushik, Co-ordinator of Youth Wing, North Zone of Brahma Kumaris delivered an enlightening talk to the students to remain free from mental stress. Smt. Shaminder Kaur, Counselor, Drug Treatment Center, Kapurthala discussed the ill effects of drugs while making the students aware about the serious problem of drug addiction. Teachers from all departments, clubs and units gave new students a brief overview of courses, support services and their future avenues. Saplings were distributed to the students by Nature Eco Club to make them aware regarding the importance of planting trees to preserve and protect the environment. Outcome: New students received information about the scope and avenues of different academic, skill based and value added courses available in the college. They became aware about the importance of participating in co-curricular, sports and other skill enhancing activities for their holistic development. They also realised the significance of focus and alertness by participating in the enticing games arranged for them during the ice-breaking session.

Department of Computer Science and IT provided valuable information to the students about cyber laws and cyber-crimes. Report:-Plethora of knowledge enriching activities buzzed the National Library Week commemorated by Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala. College Library and Readers’ Club of Hindu Kanya College. Kapurthala celebrated National Library Week with great enthusiasm from 14th to 19th November 2022. These celebrations were organized to follow a practice initiated by Shri I.V.Ramayya, recognized as the "Architect of Public Library Movement in India" and as per the guidelines of ILA (Indian Library Association)to observe 14th to 20th November as National Library week all over India since 1968. The main aim has been to let the public know about the libraries and to develop reading, writing and analytical faculties among young learners.The whole week remained buzzing with plethora of knowledge enhancing activities. 14th November 2022 was dedicated to Children's Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Books based on Honourable Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and children were displayed to elucidate his contribution towards India's freedom. Madam Principal Dr. Archna Garg inaugurated the event. On 15th November 2022, Book Review Competition was organized. 54 students of the college participated in book review competition. Kannan of B. A. 1st year, Harpreet Kaur of M. A 3rd semester and Manpreet Kaur of B. Com 3rd semester were selected as the best reviewers in Hindi, Punjabi and English language respectively. On 16th November 2022, “Design a Book-Mark Competition was conducted in which 22 students from college and Collegiate school participated enthusiastically and crafted beautiful Bookmarks to flaunt their artistic imagination and innovative ideas. Vidhi Sharma of B.Com 1st Semester, Arshdeep of B.C.A.- 5th Semester and Megna of 10+1 (Arts) stood first, second and third respectively in this competition. Thereafter, a Debate Competition was staged on 17th November 2022 on the topic “Stubble Burning” which was worth-enjoying and informative session for the audience. The highlight of the event was the question answer round as a volley of questions was answered confidently by the speakers of both sides. The session was a kaleidoscope of opinions and perspectives backed effectively by the supporting facts that definitely enhanced the knowledge and understanding of the topic among students. Total 12 students participated in this interactive session. Sukhmanjot Kaur of B.A. -5th Semester stood 1st, Diksha of B.Com.-3rd Semester got the second position, Kashish of B.Com.- 1st Semester and Manjot of B.A.-1st Semester got third position in this competition. On 18th November , an Essay Writing Competition was organized on the topic, " A Library is the Heart of an Institution" on a quote given by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, 2nd President of India. 42 students from College and Collegiate school participated in this competition to display their imaginative and creative faculties and presented their views on how Library plays a vital role as an indispensable tool of learning process; starting from the toddler-school life to the higher education- till the research and even beyond. Gurleen Kaur of B.Com-1st Semester got first position, Jaismeen Kaur of B.C.A. -1st Semester got the second position and Jyoti Kumari of U.G. Diploma in Stitching and Tailoring was declared third in this competition. On the last day of National Library week, A Poem Recitation Competition was organized for the young poets to discover their poetical talent. Young poets rhymed on the "Importance of Books" and expressed their thoughts with confidence. Pragna of BCA 3rd Sem & Kashish of B. Com 1st stood first and Sania & Sukhrajdeep Kaur of 10+2 got appreciation award in Poetical Recitation. Dr. Archna Garg, Principal of the college appreciated the special endeavors put in by the Readers’ Club, Library Staff and encouraged young readers to participate in such knowledge enriching and confidence boosting activities for their holistic development. Medical Camp at Village Mushkved ( Seenpur)

A Medical Camp was organized in the Village Mushkved by Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell for the villagers. Dr. Yogesh Sehgal from Civil Hospital, Kapurthala performed the checkup of villagers and prescribed them medicines, free of cost. Outcome: The necessary healthcare services were provided by the Cell to the villagers free of cost, with the help of a team of medical experts from the Civil Hospital, Kapurthala. Villagers were being diagnosed and suggested the precautionary measures to address the alarming health issues in time and prescriptions were provided to them by the doctor. This initiative of the Cell not only benefitted villagers, but also sensitised student volunteers of the Cell to participate in the community awareness programs. Bhasha Manch of the college arranged a Handwriting Competition for the students in which students showcased their creativity in the Punjabi handwriting in a specific manner and time period. Their flair of handwriting was adjudged by the judges, winners were appreciated by awarding the certificates for their ingenuity. Outcome: Bhasha Manch provided a golden opportunity to the students for exhibiting their proficiency and artistry in the Punjabi handwriting by using traditional reed pen and Inkpot. The event not only encouraged the healthy competitive spirit among the participants but also motivated them to improve their handwriting skills in Punjabi and oriented their energy and interest towards promoting their language and its unique handwriting skills. On the eve of Independence celebrations were held in the college premises. An enlightening talk was delivered by Mrs. Seema Rani, Head of the Department of History, to make students aware about the historical as well as present day relevance of the freedom struggle for Indian independence. A patriotic song and a Nukkad Natak on the theme of "Azadi Ka Jashan" were presented by the students. which filled the air with a sense of pride and patriotic fervour. Dr. Kulwinder Kaur, Officiating Principal motivated students to embrace the constructive and progressive outlook to perform their responsibilities ardently to protect the hard-earned freedom. Outcome : The event motivated the students to cherish and learn lessons from the unforgettable tales of bravery of the great freedom fighters. Distribution of Plants on World Environment Day

On June 5, 2023, NSS units of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala celebrated World Environment Day by distributing plants in the village Rupanpur. The theme for this year's World Environment Day was *Ecosystem Restoration*. Motive: The purpose of the event was to raise awareness about the importance of restoring and preserving our ecosystems. Outcome: Volunteers played a crucial role in creating a positive impact on the community by encouraging the adoption of sustainable practices and promoting environmental conservation. A wide variety of saplings like mango, guava, jamun and bhel patri suitable for the local ecosystem were distributed and planted in the village. Madam Principal, Dr. Archna Garg appreciated the efforts of the NSS units saying that plants can be beneficial in restoration of the ecosystem.

Yuva Utsav-2023 was organized in the college premises in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kapurthala under the patronage of Union Ministry of Youth Programmes, Sports and Culture Promotion. 123 students from different institutions participated in the events of poem writing, declamation, painting, mobile photography and group cultural items. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), Kapurthala Mrs. Paramjit Kaur inaugurated this event and Deputy Mayor, Kapurthala Mr. Vinod Sood was the Special Guest. Colonel Jaivir Singh, Director Recruitment, North Zone elaborated the opportunities available for youth to enter in defense services and laid special focus on Agniveer Scheme. Principal Dr. Archna Garg appreciated the efforts taken by the Nehru Yuva Kendra for encouraging the youth for such growth promoting activities. Ms. Gagandeep Kaur, District Coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra, while highlighting the motive behind the event, encouraged all students to participate in such competitions with full spirit and enthusiasm. Staff members from the college were also honoured on this occasion for their active support and service.
